Human Resources Manager

We are seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead Human Resources operations for a growing organization in Long Beach, CA. This is a fully onsite role requiring a hands-on HR leader who can effectively support both management and employees while ensuring compliance, strengthening employee relations, and driving HR best practices. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a union environment , strong knowledge of California employment laws, and a proven ability to partner with operational leaders to support business objectives. Key Responsibilities Manage day-to-day Human Resources operations, including employee relations, performance management, compliance, onboarding, and policy administration. Serve as the primary HR resource for employees, supervisors, and leadership teams. Partner with union representatives and management on labor relations matters, grievance administration, contract interpretation, and employee concerns. Conduct workplace investigations and provide recommendations on employee relations issues. Advise managers on performance management, corrective actions, coaching, and employee development. Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and labor regulations. Support recruiting, onboarding, employee engagement, retention, and workforce planning initiatives. Oversee leave of absence administration, accommodations, and return-to-work processes. Partner with Payroll and Benefits teams to support employee programs and HR operations. Maintain HR metrics, reporting, and employee records while ensuring confidentiality and compliance. Qualifications Required Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. 5+ years of Human Resources experience. Previous HR leadership or HR Manager experience. Experience working in a unionized environment. Strong employee relations and workplace investigations experience. Knowledge of California employment laws, labor relations, and HR compliance. Experience supporting performance management, corrective actions, and employee coaching. Strong communication, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills. Preferred PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification. Experience supporting manufacturing, distribution, logistics, or industrial environments. HRIS and payroll system experience.
