DC Unarmed SPO ($23/hr.)

Securemedy Incorporated is currently hiring experienced Unarmed SPOs in Washington, DC. We are specifically looking for an ALL-SEASON EXTERIOR SECURITY PROFESSIONALS with strong customer service and communication skills. This position requires officers to stand for extended periods and rotate between multiple posts as needed throughout the shift. Candidates must be professional, alert, adaptable, and comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Job Brief We are seeking professional, dependable, and safety-focused Special Police Officers (SPOs) to support daily security operations within a private school setting in Washington, D.C. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a school and demonstrate sound judgment, strong communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. As an SPO, you will play a critical role in ensuring campus safety, enforcing policies, and responding effectively to incidents while maintaining a visible and approachable presence throughout the school. Key Responsibilities Maintain a safe and secure school environment for students, staff, and visitors Monitor entrances/exits and enforce access control procedures Conduct visitor screening and verify identification Perform regular patrols of the school building and surrounding areas Respond promptly to incidents, emergencies, or disturbances De-escalate conflicts and enforce school safety policies Collaborate with school administration and emergency personnel when needed Prepare accurate and timely incident reports Assist with arrival, dismissal, and general school operations as needed Requirements Active Special Police Officer (SPO) License (required) Prior security or law enforcement experience (school setting preferred) High School Diploma or GED (required) Must be at least 21 years of age Strong understanding of security procedures and public safety practices Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills Ability to interact professionally with students, staff, and the public Must pass a drug screening, and physical examination CPR/AED certification (preferred) Ability to stand, walk, and remain alert for extended periods Education Requirements HS Diploma/GED Certification Requirements Additional Information / Benefits Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Paid Sick Days Paid Holidays 401(k)/403(b) Plan This job reports to the Site Supervisor.
