Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Med-Surg/Telemetry Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: MO or compact state license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Ability to interpret dysrhythmias Experience with IV insulin protocols Experience in feeding tube care and management Pre/post hemodialysis management experience Ability to manage central line care Experience with blood product administration Competence in phlebotomy and peripheral line care Ability to manage PICC lines Experience in starting IVs Familiarity with heparin protocols Ability to manage cardiac drips without titration Experience with PCA administration Knowledge of thrombolytic agents Experience with substance withdrawal management Comfort with ortho trauma care and traction management Experience with nasal cannula and oxygen therapy Knowledge of infection control and isolation precautions Description: This position is for a registered nurse specializing in Med-Surg/Telemetry. The nurse will be responsible for caring for patients in transitional care. Patients will be awaiting admission into inpatient units. Care will begin in the emergency department until beds become available. Duties include interpretation of dysrhythmias and management of IV insulin protocols. The nurse will also provide feeding tube care and pre/post hemodialysis management. Other responsibilities include accessing ports and administering blood products. Central line management and phlebotomy will be required. Peripheral line care and PICC line management are also part of the role. The nurse should be skilled in starting IVs and following heparin protocols. Management of cardiac drips without titration and PCA administration is necessary. Experience with thrombolytic agents and substance withdrawal is required. Knowledge of ortho trauma and traction care is essential. The nurse should also be familiar with nasal cannula and oxygen therapy. Understanding of isolation precautions is a must.
