Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical/Surgical and Telemetry Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years minimum License: Missouri or Compact Nursing License Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: - Interpretation of dysrhythmias - IV insulin protocols - Feeding tube care and management - Pre/post hemodialysis management - Accessing ports - Blood product administration - Central line care/management - Phlebotomy - Peripheral line care/management - Starting IVs - Heparin protocols - Management of cardiac drips without titration Description: This position is in a transitional care unit for patients awaiting admission to a hospital inpatient unit. Nurses provide initial care in the emergency department until beds become available. Candidates should be able to pass an EKG exam. Experience with cardiac telemetry and managing ventilated patients is necessary. Travelers may float within the service line as needed. All requests for time off must be finalized before submission. No local candidates are accepted within a 75-mile radius. Each nurse will care for a patient ratio of 4-5 patients. Daily tasks may include high flow nasal cannula management, and care for patients with substance withdrawal and orthopedic trauma. Nurses will handle issues related to oxygen administration and isolation precautions. The role requires understanding of thrombolytic agents and PCA management. Additional skills in wound care and tracheostomy management are beneficial. The healthcare setting supports interdisciplinary care including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services.
