Job DescriptionJob DescriptionAbout This RoleThe Psychiatrist is responsible for providing psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, medication management, and ongoing psychiatric care to adults participating in Goodwill NY/NJ's Personalized Recovery Oriented Services (PROS) program. The Psychiatrist serves as a key member of the interdisciplinary treatment team, promoting recovery, wellness, community integration, and successful achievement of each participant's personal goals, including employment, education, independent living, and overall health.Working within the PROS model and New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) regulations, the Psychiatrist provides trauma-informed, person-centered, culturally responsive, and recovery-oriented psychiatric services. Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, prescribing and monitoring psychotropic medications, managing co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders, consulting with clinical staff, and collaborating with primary care providers and community partners to ensure integrated, high-quality care.The Psychiatrist contributes to program quality improvement initiatives, supports regulatory compliance, and provides clinical leadership to promote evidence-based practices that improve participant outcomes.---Essential Functions· Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments.· Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychotropic medications utilizing evidence-based practices.· Monitor medication effectiveness, side effects, adherence, and participant response to treatment.· Provide ongoing medication management and psychoeducation to participants and, when appropriate, family members or natural supports.· Assess suicide risk, violence risk, psychiatric decompensation, and other clinical crises, providing appropriate interventions as needed.· Provide consultation regarding co-occurring substance use disorders and integrated treatment approaches.· Complete psychiatric documentation in accordance with OMH, Medicaid, and organizational standards.· Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings and case conferences.· Collaborate with Program Directors, Social Workers, Mental Health Counselors, Nurses, Rehabilitation Specialists, Employment Specialists, and Peer Specialists.· Assist staff in understanding psychiatric diagnoses, symptom management, and medication-related issues.· Consult with primary care physicians, specialists, hospitals, and other providers to ensure continuity of care.· Promote participant self-determination, recovery, resilience, and community inclusion.· Utilize person-centered, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strength-based approaches in all clinical interactions.· Encourage shared decision-making regarding psychiatric treatment and medication management.· Support participants in achieving meaningful life goals, including employment, education, independent living, and social connectedness.· Ensure compliance with OMH regulations, Medicaid documentation standards, Joint Commission standards (if applicable), and organizational policies.· Maintain timely and accurate documentation within the electronic health record.· Participate in clinical supervision, case consultation, and staff education as needed.· Maintain professional licensure, DEA registration, and required continuing medical education.---Qualifications· Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.· Active New York State Physician License.· DEA Registration and New York State Controlled Substance License.· Minimum three years of outpatient psychiatry or community behavioral health experience.· Experience working within OMH-licensed programs, PROS, ACT, CCBHC, Article 31 clinics, or other community mental health settings preferred.· Experience treating adults with serious mental illness, co-occurring substance use disorders, trauma-related conditions, and complex psychosocial needs.· Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR).· Knowledge of recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and evidence-based psychiatric care.· Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply. Working Conditions: In-Person/On-Site Additional Duties: This position may be required to perform additional duties consistent with organizational needs and strategic priorities \nCompany DescriptionGoodwill Greater New York and Northern New Jersey (GWNYNJ) believes that the power of work and sustainable fashion is how we unlock the good in our communities.
