Business Operations Associate - San Antonio, TX

Summary

Baylor College of Medicine – CHRISTUS Children's in San Antonio is seeking a highly motivated and competent professional to serve as a Business Operations Associate supporting the Department of Anesthesiology. Primary responsibilities will include managing the department's day-to-day business, financial, and human resources operations, handling agency staffing contracts and vendor negotiations, liaising with central departments, and supporting the Department Chair and Division Chiefs, under the direction of the Senior Manager. The successful candidate will have exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, be a great team player, have strong and proven organizational skills, and experience managing high-level business relationships.

Must be self-motivated, resourceful, and proactive; organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask. In addition, they will demonstrate excellent negotiation, relationship, and conversational skills.

Position is located in San Antonio, TX.

Job Duties

● Develops manages, and maintains department budgets and financial data, supporting the Senior Manager on department budget planning and oversight; establish financial and operational systems to monitor, control, and verify expenditures. 
● Manages human resources activities for the unit, including hiring and salary actions that include coordinating personnel-related transactions in SuccessFactors, and submitting positions for approval through the position management process and updating PEPT. 
● Manages agency staffing contracts, including negotiating pricing and terms with locum and staffing agencies. 
● Ensures the ongoing review and development of process improvements to maximize business productivity. 
● Provides business and administrative support to the Department Chair and Division Chiefs, including special projects and initiatives as assigned, ensuring timely and effective implementation of department leadership decisions and initiatives. 
● Works in collaboration with the Research Administration Associate on grant-related activities and programs, including pre-award and post-award related tasks in support of department faculty. 
● Serves as QGenda superuser for the Department of Anesthesiology.
● Prepares and submit new faculty reappointments and renewals and may assist with credentialing and hospital privileging. Complete faculty onboarding tasks in SuccessFactors. 
● Coordinates department meetings, events, retreats, and other functions. 
● Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree. 
• Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

● Master's degree (in a related field such as business administration, finance, or healthcare administration).
● Experience in agency contract negotiation or vendor management.
● Experience with developing departmental and research budgets and maintaining them monthly. 
● Experience in academic medicine, healthcare, and/or hospital setting.
● EPIC and/or SuccessFactors experience. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Use of Concur, SAP, and Power BI. 
● Experience in faculty onboarding and academic faculty support.
