SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH MANAGER

Summary You will serve as a SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH MANAGER at the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Responsibilities You will manage programs and fosters an environment that administers all resources in a manner that instills public trust while accomplishing the mission. Monitors progress and evaluate outcomes to improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness. You will hold self and others accountable for measurable high-quality, timely, and cost-effective results. You will determine objectives, set priorities, and ensures sound management processes and procedures are in place, ensuring that national interests are well served. Accepting responsibility for mistakes. Complies with established control systems You will apply the principles, methods, and tools used for risk assessment and mitigation, including assessment of failures and their consequences. You will develop and present findings, reports or recommendations to analysts, employees, managers inside or outside of the organization, agency heads or other high-ranking officials. Findings, reports, and recommendations support management You will apply guidelines, regulations, and procedures associated with compliance inquiries, including application of compliance rules and criteria; you will make determinations that work conditions are in or out of compliance with regulations. You will apply guidelines, regulations, and procedures associated with accident investigation, including preservation of the accident scene, root cause analysis, and evidence detection and handling. You will apply manages and assesses the effectiveness of safety and occupational health programs and practices designed to prevent injury to personnel and loss of property in the industrial and construction work environments. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-12) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Analyzing mishap trends and other safety data, conducting inspections, and reviewing subordinate command self-assessments; 2) Establishing required correction actions to reduce mishaps; 3) Researching and providing advice on recommendations to correct, eliminate, or better control hazards associated with a broad range or work processes, equipment operations, and protective devices in order to minimize injury to personnel; 3) Interpreting and applying safety and occupational health laws, regulations, principles, standards, procedures, and abatement measures to manage an Occupational Health Program; and 4) Planning organizing, directing, executing, and evaluating a comprehensive safety program. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Additional vacancies may be filled by this announcement. A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized. Policy information may be found at: The work is primarily performed in an office setting; however, the safety and occupational health manager may be exposed to operating industrial machinery and equipment, toxic chemicals, fumes, and material handling activities during occasional inspections and development and evaluation of hazard controls. Personal protective equipment may be required. PPP applicants will be placed at the FPL, if determined Well Qualified (WQ). To receive priority consideration, the FPL must be the same grade level or equivalent of the retained grade or the grade held immediately prior to separation.
