MIG Welder / Fabricator Custom Awnings This contract-to-hire role offers an opportunity for an experienced MIG Welder/Fabricator to join a custom awning manufacturing team in Pacoima, CA. You will weld and fabricate aluminum and steel components for high-end awnings and shade structures, working from detailed shop drawings and fabrication prints. Monolingual Spanish speakers are welcome. Responsibilities MIG weld aluminum and steel components for custom awnings and shade structures. Read and interpret shop drawings, fabrication prints, and work orders to complete projects accurately. Measure, cut, fit, and assemble materials to specification using appropriate fabrication tools and equipment. Perform layout, fabrication, and welding tasks independently with minimal supervision. Inspect finished welds and assemblies for quality, accuracy, and appearance, ensuring they meet company standards. Operate welding and fabrication equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with shop procedures. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper use and storage of tools and PPE. Collaborate with team members to meet production schedules and maintain high quality standards. Apply problem-solving skills to address fabrication or fit-up issues and suggest practical solutions. Support a positive shop culture by communicating respectfully, sharing knowledge, and assisting coworkers as needed. Essential Skills Hands-on MIG welding and fabrication experience with aluminum and steel. Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, shop drawings, and blueprints. Proficiency in measuring accurately and using fabrication tools and equipment for cutting, fitting, and assembly. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, precise welds and assemblies. Demonstrated reliability in attendance and punctuality. Team-first attitude with a collaborative, low-ego approach to work. Ability to work safely in a fabrication shop environment while following established safety procedures. Comfort working from written work orders and production schedules in a fast-paced shop setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications Los Angeles City Weld Certification is a plus. Experience working with custom or architectural metal products such as awnings or shade structures is beneficial. Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot fabrication challenges and improve processes. Work Environment This position is based in a fabrication shop in Pacoima, CA, where you will spend most of your time welding, fabricating, and assembling custom awning components. The schedule runs Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, offering consistent daytime hours. The environment is hands-on and production-focused, with safety, quality, and teamwork as top priorities. Required personal protective equipment includes a welding hood or mask, steel-toe work boots, and a welding shirt or jacket. You will work closely with a team of approximately 30 employees in a shop that values a positive attitude, low ego, and strong collaboration, providing a stable setting for long-term career growth. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pacoima, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
