Milk Lab Technician

Want to make a meaningful impact in patient carejoin our Clinical Nutrition team as a Milk Lab Technician! We are hiring per diem and .75 FTE.

Performs a variety of Milk Lab duties, including but not limited to: reconstitution and fortification of specialized formula, centrifugation and analysis of human milk lipid concentration and caloric density, human milk pasteurization, human milk and formula delivery, medical food and product inventory management, utilization of electronic health record and milk management software, interdisciplinary communication with nursing, Registered Dietitians, medical providers, Dietetic Technicians, and Lactation Consultants. Safely clean and operate a variety of biomedical preparation and production equipment. Interpret, implement and follow Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point safety regulations and infection control protocols and policies. Provide customer service to patients, visitors, and staff in accordance with hospital and department expectations. Demonstrates understanding of rationale and downstream impacts of work and advocates for the responsible and efficient use of resources, including the use of human milk. Contributes to developing and updating standard work and provides peer-to-peer feedback, ensuring compliance with these tools. Demonstrates a high level of professionalism and problem-solving abilities related to ensuring the electronic health record is accurate, that the feeding supply is adequate, and that procedures, tolerance, and advancements are in place, with special attention to the timeliness of the production schedule, and advocates for breast milk management that prevents waste. May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience Associate Degree required OR one of the following credentials may substitute: Dietetic Technician Registered, Pharmacy Technician, Medical Laboratory Technician, or Certified Medical Assistant. Required Credentials N/A. Preferred Demonstrated prior quality improvement experience in a healthcare position. Pediatric or previous hospital experience.

Compensation Range

$24.77 - $37.16 per hour

Salary Information

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
