Production Laboratory Technician

The position is located on premises within USP’s microbiology operations manufacturing function and supports the production and support tasks related to microbial Analytical Reference Materials (ARMs) and reference standards. Responsibilities Reference Material Production: Directly engage in hands‑on production activities of USP Analytical Reference Materials. Microbial Production: Perform microbial reference material production activities according to established SOPs. Incubations & Serial Dilutions: Conduct incubations, serial dilutions, and enumeration of microbial samples. Preparation: Prepare materials for production, including sterilizing components, preparing media, assembling component packaging, and material qualification. Equipment Management: Ensure equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and operated in accordance with SOPs and test methods. Facility Maintenance: Ensure production space is properly cleaned and maintained following SOPs to guarantee quality events. Product Fulfillment: Fulfill finished goods Analytical Reference Material products. Documentation & Compliance: Maintain meticulous, accurate documentation of all relevant paperwork. Regulatory Practices: Adhere to all regulatory compliance regulations for good documentation practices. Record Keeping: Update logs and categorize documents. Assist QA/QC with production investigations. Qualifications Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in microbiology or a related field. 1–3 years of relevant microbiology experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Preferred Experience Experience related to microbiology or biological science. Biological production experience. Manufacturing experience in a controlled environment. Laboratory experience, including pipetting and aseptic technique. Understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 17034, and ISO 17025. Knowledge of USP Compendia (Monographs, General Chapters). Knowledge of FDA regulations, other Compendia, and ICH guidelines. Supervisory Responsibilities None – individual contributor role.
