Interiors Project Manager

Our commitment to equity, effectiveness, and sustainability guides our work providing City agencies with the critical resources and support needed to succeed, including: Recruiting, hiring, and training City employees Managing 56 public buildings Acquiring, selling, and leasing City property Purchasing over $1 billion in goods and services for City agencies Overseeing the greenest municipal vehicle fleet in the country Leading the City’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions from government operations The Real Estate Services (RES) division of DCAS supports the operations of the government of the City of New York by providing services for the City’s real‑estate needs, including space planning and management of 37 million square feet, acquisitions (lease or purchase), sales and dispositions, architectural design and project management, zoning and land‑use analyses, property valuation, and financial analysis of transactions. The Workplace Services Unit applies space standards to leased and City‑owned space, develops workplace strategies, coordinates office furniture systems and technologies, and provides project‑management services for interior buildouts. Position Interiors Project Manager/Space Analyst – Level II (Space Analyst – 80184) Responsibilities Assist the Director of Workplace Services in managing and guiding architectural staff to program agency needs in accordance with DCAS Space Standards and creatively maximize space while meeting operational requirements. Develop space planning and test fits. Coordinate furniture and systems, including IT and AV. Review project scope of work and construction documentation as required. Assist in developing and maintaining departmental planning and design standards. Perform general administrative duties, including budget and lease language review, furniture processing and procurement, and external consultant coordination. Manage client‑agency relationships. Minimum Qualifications 1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and one year of full‑time experience in the evaluation and layout of space in office buildings, garages, and other commercial or industrial structures, including projects requiring knowledge of construction needs and cost, installation of computer equipment and telephone communication systems, building standards, and leasing procedures; or 2. A four‑year high‑school diploma or its educational equivalent and five years of satisfactory, full‑time experience as described in “1” above. College education may be substituted for up to four years of experience on the basis of 30 semester credits per year. All candidates must have at least one year of experience described in “1” above. To be qualified for Assignment LevelII, individuals must have two additional years of the experience described in “1” above, as follows: a) A baccalaureate degree and three years of satisfactory, full‑time experience as described in “1”; or b) A four‑year high‑school diploma and seven years of satisfactory, full‑time experience as described in “1”. Preferred Skills Bachelor’s degree in interior design, interior architecture, architecture, or a related field Corporate interiors experience in government and institutional work Familiarity with workplace strategies Knowledge of systems furniture, office and ancillary furniture—including power/data coordination, specifications, and purchase order review Knowledge of materials and finishes, material specifications, and vendor resource management Proficiency with MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, BlueBeam, and updated versions of AutoCAD Strong programming and space‑planning skills Knowledge of A/V design coordination and implementation Knowledge of ADA and local codes, LEED and WELL accreditation (plus) Ability to read and review construction documents, specifications, lease language, and project budgets Ability to work independently and as part of a team Proactive, driven, and able to generate positive solutions and results Ability to reprioritize projects and deliverables frequently Strategic thinking and analytic skills to evaluate issues and alternatives Strong interpersonal and customer skills to communicate with multiple stakeholders 55a Program This position is also open to qualified persons with a disability who are eligible for the 55‑a Program.
