Key Responsibilities

• Provide pre- and post-operative care for open heart surgery patients, including CABG, valve replacement, mitral clip, TAVR, and thoracotomy procedures
• Manage advanced cardiac patients requiring continuous telemetry monitoring, including cardiac drip titration and EKG/dysrhythmia strip interpretation
• Care for pulmonary patients with conditions such as pneumothorax, hemothorax, and chest tube management
• Maintain targeted patient ratios of 1:4-6 within a stepdown/PCU setting
• Float within the hospital or to nearby affiliated campuses based on census and skill set, including potential assignment to a high-risk respiratory unit
• Work every other weekend and holiday as required

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license (any active state license or compact license accepted)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Cardiac experience required, including CABG and valve post-op experience
• Demonstrated stepdown or PCU experience at a 1:5 ratio or similar - ICU experience alone does not satisfy this requirement; SD/PCU experience is mandatory
• Ability to perform IV starts, NIH stroke scale assessments, and cardiac drip titration; must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must pass an online EKG/telemetry competency assessment prior to starting the assignment
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Minimum 1.5 years of experience, with some experience in a Level 1 or Level 2 facility preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
