Transportation Supervisor

The Transportation Supervisor manages and oversees all transportation functions in support of a U.S. Army equipment turn-in site. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and compliant movement of government property, equipment, and materiel to and from the site. The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising drivers and material handling equipment operators, ensuring compliance with Army transportation regulations, Defense Transportation Regulation (DTR), and contract requirements.

Supervises and coordinates activities to ensure project delivery. Monitors schedules and timeline of delivery of project. Enforces project standards by facilitating problem solving and project resourcing. Monitor budgets, interim milestones, and final deliverables. Partner with project managers to develop and execute business plan, facilitate collaboration to achieve project objectives. Leads and directs the work of other employees. Supervisors typically have authority for personnel decisions related to hiring, performance, and disciplinary actions. Typically requires BA and 2-4 years.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day transportation operations supporting equipment pick-up, delivery, and turn-in.

  • Coordinate movement of vehicles, equipment, and materiel in compliance with DTR 4500.9-R, AR 55-355, AR 710-2, and AR 735-5.

  • Oversee scheduling, routing, and dispatching of trucks, convoys, and material handling equipment.

  • Verify compliance with cargo documentation requirements (DD Form 1348-1A, DD Form 626, DD Form 836).

  • Lead, train, and evaluate drivers, transportation clerks, and equipment operators.

  • Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, Army, and company safety standards.

  • Maintain driver qualifications, licensing, and training records (e.g., OF 346 military driver's license, HAZMAT certifications).

  • Enforce adherence to transportation safety, hazardous materials handling, load securement, and convoy operations standards.

  • Monitor preventive maintenance, inspections, and readiness of transportation assets.

  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and vehicle damage; submit reports and corrective actions.

  • Ensure accuracy of all movement requests, load plans, shipping documentation, and accountability forms.

  • Utilize Army logistics systems such as TC-AIMS II, GCSS-Army, and DPAS to track shipments and equipment movements.

  • Maintain transportation records in compliance with ISO 9001:2015 QMS and government audit requirements.

  • Coordinate transportation activities with Site Manager, Supply Supervisor, Logistics Analysts, and COR (Contracting Officer's Representative).

  • Provide daily, weekly, and monthly transportation status reports, including equipment utilization and movement metrics.

  • Support audits, inspections, and reviews by Army officials, DCMA, or QA personnel.

  • Identify transportation inefficiencies and recommend process improvements.

  • Assist in developing and updating SOPs for transportation and equipment movement operations.

  • Support integration of Lean Six Sigma or continuous improvement practices.

Physical Demands & Working Environment:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform routine standing, walking, bending, and reaching tasks in warehouse and field environments.

  • Must also meet all physical requirements necessary to perform assigned duties, including working in extreme heat or cold, high, or low humidity, blowing sand and dust, confined spaces, heights, and other inclement weather conditions.

  • This position involves working both indoors and outdoors, periodic overtime, and exposure to heat, dust, cold, and adverse weather conditions.

Qualifications

  • Education :?High school diplomarequired; Associate's orBachelor'sdegree in Logistics, Transportation, or Supply Chain Management preferred. Equivalent military experience acceptable.

  • Experience:

  • 5+ years of transportation/logisticsexperience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

  • Prior U.S. Army or contractor experience in transportation, convoy operations, or equipment turn-in strongly preferred.

  • U.S. Army transportation and supply regulations (AR 55-355, AR 710-2, AR 735-5, DTR 4500.9-R).

  • Familiarity with Army systems: TC-AIMS II, GCSS-Army, DPAS.

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality standards.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication for coordination with Army officials and contractor leadership.

  • Ability to manage audits, inspections, and high-tempo operations.

  • Must have a valid driver's license with proof of vehicle insurance.

  • Must have a real ID?

  • Must be able to obtain andmaintaina Common Access Card (CAC)

  • Must be able to obtain Tier1/ NACI(Publictrust) background eligibility.

  • Basicproficiencyin the English language (reading and writing).

  • Proficiencyin Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

  • Must receive a favorable background check and drug testing results.

  • Must be able to travel within the United States asrequired. This position may require up to 25% travel.
