Position Overview: 

The Learning and Development Manager is responsible for leading and developing the Company’s overall learning and development program. This role builds and manages training programs that support employee onboarding, compliance, professional development, and company-wide learning needs.

The Learning and Development Manager works closely with HR, Operations, Marketing, Sales, Acquisitions, Accounting, Finance, and other departments to identify training needs, gather information, and develop practical and engaging learning solutions. This role also supports the organization’s SOPs and learning resources and helps ensure employees have access to the training and resources needed to be successful in their roles.

This is a hands-on role responsible for taking training needs from concept through completion, including researching and gathering information, collaborating with subject matter experts, creating presentations, videos, courses, and other learning materials, launching training, tracking completion, and maintaining learning programs. The role may also manage the Company’s Learning Management System (LMS) and evaluate LMS and other learning technology needs, recommending new systems or solutions as the Company grows.

Key Responsibilities:

Duties may include all duties reasonably associated with Learning and Development , including, but not limited to: 

  • Develop, implement, and maintain company-wide learning and development programs, including employee onboarding, compliance training, professional development, and role-specific training. 
  • Evaluate the Company’s current or future LMS and make recommendations regarding functionality, usability, scalability, and overall fit for the organization. 
  • Research and evaluate LMS platforms, vendors, and other learning technologies based on company needs, budget, functionality, and long-term scalability. 
  • Lead or support the selection, implementation, configuration, testing, launch, and ongoing management of an LMS or other learning platforms, as needed. 
  • Partner with leadership and key departments to identify LMS or other technology requirements and ensure the selected platform supports company-wide learning and development needs.
  • Manage LMS other other technology vendor relationships and serve as the primary internal point of contact for the system, if applicable. 
  • Own the organization, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Company’s learning and development programs, platforms, and technology, including the LMS, user management, courses, assignments, reporting, completion tracking, and any other learning resources or platforms.
  • Create engaging training courses using learning and training software, including presentations, videos, quizzes, assessments, job aids, SOPs, and other learning materials.
  • Record and edit training videos and create professional, engaging presentations and other multimedia content.
  • Partner with HR to develop and maintain required employee training, including compliance, workplace safety, OSHA-related training, Fair Housing, harassment prevention, and other required or company-specific training.
  • Work closely with Operations, HR, Marketing, Sales, Acquisitions, Accounting, Finance, and other departments to identify training needs and develop content specific to their teams and roles.
  • Take high-level ideas or requests from department leaders and independently gather the information, ask questions, coordinate with subject matter experts, and organize the content into an effective training program.
  • Own the Learning & Development and SOP sections of the company portal, ensuring information is organized, accurate, current, and easy for employees to access.
  • Develop and maintain a structured new hire onboarding training program and checklist in partnership with HR and department leaders.
  • Support HR with tracking and monitoring completion of required new hire and ongoing employee training.
  • Develop role-specific training programs for different departments and positions across the organization.
  • Continuously evaluate training content, technology, and learning processes and identify opportunities to improve, update, simplify, or expand existing programs.
  • Manage and organize the employee portal, including the Learning & Development and SOP sections, by posting and maintaining training materials, resources, job aids, SOPs, videos, forms, and other employee content, ensuring information is organized, accessible, and up to date. 
  • Assign and manage employee training, including assigning required and role-specific training, monitoring completion, following up on overdue training, and keeping training records current.
  • Monitor training requirements and deadlines, proactively following up with employees and managers to ensure required training is completed on time.
  • Research and monitor applicable training and compliance requirements, including federal, state, and industry requirements, and identify training needs or updates necessary to help keep the company compliant.
  • Stay informed on changes to training and compliance requirements and recommend updates to training programs, courses, and learning materials as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Communications, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in Learning & Development , training, instructional design, corporate training, or a similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience independently building and launching employee training programs for an organization.
  • Strong experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS) and training/content creation software or any other technology; experience with iSpring or similar is preferred.
  • Experience evaluating, selecting, implementing, or managing an LMS is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to independently research LMS options, identify company needs, compare solutions, make recommendations, and assist with implementation.
  • Experience creating engaging presentations, training videos, online courses, quizzes, assessments, SOPs, job aids, and other digital learning content.
  • Experience developing compliance or required employee training is preferred, including Fair Housing, OSHA/safety, workplace conduct, harassment prevention, or other employment-related training.
  • Experience with Google Workspace and strong proficiency with business technology and digital collaboration tools.
  • Property management experience is preferred but not required.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple training projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to make complex information easy to understand.
  • Highly collaborative and comfortable working with employees and leaders across multiple departments.
  • Creative, forward-thinking, and comfortable developing new ideas and approaches to training.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in producing polished, professional work.
  • Self-directed and proactive, with the ability to ask questions, identify what is needed, and move projects forward without being heavily directed.
  • Solution-oriented with an owner’s mindset and a strong sense of accountability for the quality and completion of work.
  • Friendly, approachable, energetic, and comfortable working with people at all levels of an organization.

Requirements

  • Ability to use company-provided computers, software, LMS platforms, Google Workspace, and other technology tools required for training development, reporting, communication, and documentation.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use new software, systems, and technology as needed.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with HR, Operations, Marketing, Sales, Acquisitions, Accounting, Finance, and other departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through phone, email, video meetings, and other digital communication tools.
  • Ability to research information, ask questions, gather information from multiple sources, and independently move projects forward.
  • Ability to work remotely and maintain reliable availability during established business hours.
  • Ability and willingness to occasionally travel for company meetings, training, or other business needs, as required.
  • Willingness to complete random drug testing as required, in compliance with all applicable Local, State, and Federal regulations.
  • Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of any lawfully permitted background check conducted after a conditional job offer, consistent with Local, State, Federal, and other applicable laws.
  • Must meet company standards for reliability, trust, confidentiality, and professionalism appropriate for a position of responsibility.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time. 
  • Candidate must be based out of the Southeast U.S. region.
