Distribution Risk Specialist

Salary Range: $143,000 - $185,000. Additional compensation may be awarded. Role Description Distribution Risk Group (DRG) seeks a Vice President to assist in risk management of loan and bond underwriting risk and CLO warehouse financing. The senior team members’ analysis and monitoring tasks will support the group’s risk responsibilities. Role Objectives Assist senior team members in evaluating distribution risk associated with loan and bond capital markets commitments and CLO warehouse financing. Monitor market trends that may impact the risk of SMBC’s existing underwriting pipeline and incorporate this view in new deal assessment. Evaluate changes within the existing CLO warehouse loan portfolio. Work collaboratively with loan and bond capital markets teams to understand syndication process results and their risk implications. Support the group head in enhancing communication to senior management about the syndication pipeline and market conditions. Interact with various groups to discuss how distribution insights can inform loan exposure management techniques. Mentor junior team members. Qualifications and Skills At least 5 years of experience in corporate banking, debt capital markets, or CLO structuring. Knowledge of loan and corporate bond markets and credit distribution business. Sound credit analysis skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills for effectively conveying risk assessments. Strong analytical skills, both qualitative and quantitative; excellent problem‑solving abilities. Ability to work proactively across functions to gain a holistic view. Strong presentation skills using effective visualizations. Ability to deliver high‑quality analysis on tight timelines. Education BA/BS required; MA/MS/MBA/CFA preferred.
