Job Summary The RN Clinical Nurse – Critical Care is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary care team in a critical care unit that provides individualized, high‑quality, safe patient care. The role is supported by Nurse Managers and the Wellstar Shared Governance Model and follows evidence‑based practice standards. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions Perform the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes, planning, implementation and evaluation) using evidence based practice, analytical and critical thinking. Provide relationship‑based, patient‑centered care that reflects cultural diversity and population characteristics. Partner with patients and significant others using appropriate communication methods (bedside shift report, interdisciplinary rounds, patient teaching). Practice current clinical standards and maintain compliance with state nurse practice act, Scope of Practice and ANA Code of Ethics. Coordinate delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care; promote a respectful, inclusive clinical environment. Participate in performance improvement, research utilization, and shared governance activities. Complete professional competency assessments, mandatory and population‑specific education; serve as a preceptor or mentor to other nursing staff and students. Promote evidence‑based practice and research; participate in data collection, analyze clinical questions, and consult experts. Plan patient care across the continuum; develop protocols and procedures to achieve best practices and reduce re‑admissions and adverse events. Use human and material resources efficiently; perform other duties as assigned. Required Minimum Education Associate’s degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing (Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing). Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s) All certifications required upon hire: ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – or equivalent from American Red Cross, ACLS‑I, ACLS‑P. BLS (Basic Life Support) – or equivalent from American Red Cross or BLS‑I. Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN‑COMPACT (Multi‑state Compact). Additional licenses or certifications may be required as determined by the organization. Required Minimum Experience Minimum two years of direct patient care experience in a critical care environment. Required Minimum Skills Proficient reading, writing and speaking in English. Basic computer and technology skills to support clinical care. Strong interpersonal, collaborative and customer service skills. Ability to function in a fast‑paced environment, respond to emergencies with decisiveness, composure and respect. Excellent time‑management and organizational skills.
