Spring 2027 Co-op, Integrated Pharmacology

Six-month co-op program in integrated pharmacology supporting late-stage drug discovery at Vertex Pharmaceuticals in Boston. Participants will conduct in vivo and ex vivo pharmacology studies, analyze experimental data, and collaborate with experienced biologists across disease areas.

Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and analyze in vivo and ex vivo pharmacology studies under manager guidance
• Conduct assigned experiments using established protocols and standard operating procedures
• Perform initial data analysis, interpret findings, and identify key conclusions and follow-up studies
• Maintain accurate experimental records including methods, data, observations, and analyses
• Prepare scientific summaries, figures, and presentations communicating results to project teams

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate degree in pharmacology, biological sciences, or related discipline
• Hands-on experience with in vivo mouse dosing techniques (SC, IV, PO, IP) and tissue collection
• Proficiency with ex vivo methods: protein assays, flow cytometry, qPCR, and molecular biology techniques
• Ability to learn and apply new scientific concepts and laboratory methodologies rapidly
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with scientific documentation ability
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently and collaboratively
• Legal authorization to work in the United States
