Job Title: Postdoctoral Associate - Cancer Biology and Immunology Division: Molecular and Cell Biology Work Arrangement: Onsite only Location: Houston, TX Salary Range: $62,232 FLSA Status: Exempt Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Summary Dr. Putluri’s laboratory at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Associate to join our multidisciplinary cancer research team. The candidate will work on translational cancer research projects involving tumor cell signaling, metabolic reprogramming, immuno‑oncology, and therapeutic target identification. The focus is on understanding metabolic and molecular vulnerabilities driving cancer progression, therapeutic resistance, and tumor‑immune interactions. Opportunities exist to work with cutting‑edge cancer models, 3D culture systems, translational human samples, patient‑derived models (PDXs), 3D organoids/spheroids, advanced molecular assays, and multi‑omics datasets. Recent or soon‑to‑complete PhDs are preferred. Job Duties Conduct in vitro cancer biology experiments, including 2D culture, 3D organoids, spheroids, and patient‑derived models. Perform CRISPR/Cas9‑mediated gene knockout, siRNA/shRNA knockdown, and validation of engineered cell lines. Execute molecular and biochemical assays such as qPCR, Western blotting, FACS experiments and analysis, ELISA, flow cytometry, and functional phenotyping. Contribute to generation and characterization of knockout mouse models, including colony maintenance, genotyping, and phenotypic analysis. Perform mouse studies using immune‑competent strains and immune‑compromised NSG mice, including tumor implantation, drug treatment, and immune profiling. Establish and monitor orthotopic xenograft models to study tumor growth and progression within relevant tissue microenvironments. Conduct luciferase labeling of cancer cells and use bioluminescence imaging to trace tumor growth and metastasis in vivo. Perform mechanistic studies examining cancer signaling pathways, cytokine biology, therapeutic resistance, and tumor metabolism. Design and execute xenograft, orthotopic, syngeneic, and PDX in vivo studies. Develop and maintain 3D organoids/spheroids and support in vivo therapeutic testing. Collaborate with experimental biologists, computational biologists, and clinicians to drive mechanistic and translational outputs. Prepare manuscripts, figures, and grant‑related materials, and organize data for grant/paper submissions. Present research findings at internal meetings and national/international conferences. Mentor students and support collaborative projects across laboratories. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field. Preferred Qualifications Ph.D. in Biology or Biomedical Sciences, or Bioinformatics, or related disciplines. Recent Ph.D. graduates or graduates within the last three years at time of application. Experience in cancer metabolism, tumor microenvironment, or immuno‑oncology. Familiarity with multi‑omics datasets and pathway analysis. Experience assisting in grant writing or contributing to funded projects. Strong coding experience using R and Python for data analysis. Expertise in the biological interpretation of multi‑omics datasets (RNA‑seq, proteomics, metabolomics, ChIP‑seq, single‑cell RNA‑seq, and spatial data) and experience in multi‑omics data integration. Ability to develop algorithms and code for innovative multi‑omics data analysis.
