As a part of our team, you will build a rewarding, lifelong career in a diverse and welcoming environment.Marymount Hospital's 5th Floor Complex Medicine Unit is a recently reopened 12-bed telemetry unit caring for adult medical-surgical patients with multiple comorbidities, providing a fresh, energized environment where caregivers' voices and ideas matter. The unit offers frequent opportunities to strengthen assessment skills, recognize subtle changes in patient condition, and build clinical judgment while delivering compassionate, patient-centered care. Caregivers will work alongside engaged leaders and supportive teammates while helping shape a growing unit focused on an exceptional patient experience. As a PCNA on this team, you will provide or assist with basic direct patient care activities under the supervision of an RN.A caregiver in this role works days from 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.A caregiver who excels in this role will:Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and inserting/removing urinary Foley catheters.Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.Assist with keeping patients' rooms clean and orderly.Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:High school diploma or GEDBasic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within new hire periodNursing students : required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross prior to hireNursing students who have recently completed a minimum of one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program may substitute the clinical rotation for the required experienceProficient in applied mathematics and reading comprehension at minimum junior high level as scored on the employment assessmentPreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA)Knowledge of geriatric syndromes, dementia, delirium, and psychiatric disordersKnowledge of medication management, including psychotropic medicationsPhysical Requirements:Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.Personal Protective Equipment:Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.The policy of Cleveland Clinic Health System and its system hospitals (Cleveland Clinic Health System) is to provide equal opportunity to all of our caregivers and applicants for employment in our drug free environment.
