Maintenance Engineer

This role focuses on maintaining and improving chemical blending, packaging, and automated production equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain pumps, robotics, conveyors, filling equipment, and facility machinery, working across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and fluid-handling systems. You will support continuous production, minimize downtime, and contribute to ongoing equipment upgrades and process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial production equipment, including chemical transfer pumps, metering and dosing systems, conveyors, packaging machines, automated filling systems, robotics, and automated material handling equipment.
• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on manufacturing equipment to improve reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic failures and implement effective corrective actions.
• Troubleshoot variable frequency drives (VFDs), motors, sensors, relays, PLC-controlled equipment, and automation systems.
• Repair and replace pumps, seals, bearings, gearboxes, valves, motors, and related mechanical and electrical components.
• Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects to enhance production efficiency and safety.
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, P&IDs, and equipment manuals to support troubleshooting and repairs.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime and maintain consistent output.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and equipment history within a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Support safety initiatives and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and internal safety standards.
• Collaborate closely with production and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and overall plant performance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in chemical manufacturing, food and beverage, packaging, water treatment, or related process industries.
• Experience with robotics, automation systems, and PLC-controlled equipment.
• Familiarity with troubleshooting PLC-based control systems and automated production lines.
• Exposure to CMMS systems for tracking maintenance work orders and equipment history.
• Experience in plumbing or fluid-handling maintenance is beneficial.
• Comfort working in a maintenance technician or maintenance mechanic capacity in an industrial setting.

Work Environment

The role is based in a large, clean manufacturing facility focused on chemical blending and automated packaging operations. You will work primarily on a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., supporting production during core operating hours. The environment includes industrial pumps, conveyors, automated filling systems, robotics, and other automated material handling equipment, along with associated electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. You will regularly use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment and work with a CMMS to document maintenance activities. The facility emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and adherence to OSHA and company safety standards.

This is a Permanent position based out of Rockford, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
