Job Type Full-time, Part-time Description The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is the heartbeat of Imagine the Possibilities, providing medical, social, and supportive services to individuals in a Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) setting. The role focuses on empowering people to achieve personal goals and live independently, while collaborating with the care team to deliver person-centered care plans. Responsibilities Collaborate with the HCBS Supervisor and Programmer to develop individual goals. Provide services based on the behavioral care plan, teaching individuals how to accomplish their goals. Use behavioral strategies to support individuals and address non-successful behaviors. Motivate and encourage participation in behavioral care plans. Participate in recreational, community, and social activities honoring the individual’s choices. Apply rights-restrictions appropriately as determined by the interdisciplinary team. Maintain complete, consistent, and accurate documentation of progress. Ensure safe environments and give instruction to help individuals reach goals. Assist with hygienic needs, clothing, medication administration, and suitable food options. Advocate for individuals to maintain control over their own lives and experience respect and empowerment. Assist with transfers (e.g., wheelchair, bed, toilet). Lift up to 35 pounds; heavier loads require mechanical assistance. Participate in activities of client choice such as church, swimming, bowling. Stand and walk for up to eight hours; frequent bending, stooping, stretching. Drive up to eight hours as needed. Operate in various climatic conditions. Handle difficult emotional and physical behaviors. Visual and auditory abilities for communication and environment awareness. Drive and transport for service provision.
