Counselor - High School (007-10)

Primary Purpose/Role The primary responsibility of a school counselor is to counsel and advocate for all students to fully develop their personal, social, academic, and career abilities. A school counselor works alongside school faculty/staff, students, parents, and community to plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program at the assigned school. Qualifications Education/Certification Master’s degree in Counseling Valid Texas school counseling certificate Minimum three years of credibile years of teaching experience Special Knowledge/Skills Knowledge of school counseling procedures, social/emotional learning, student academic and career development Child behavior management and emotional regulation techniques Other Skills and Abilities Required Maintain positive and professional communication (i.e., email, written, and verbal) Maintain professional and emotional composure Promote a positive, caring environment Work with and respond consistently and equitably to all personnel, students, and parents/guardians Communicate and support expectations that are consistent with district counseling program objectives Interpret policies and procedures #J-18808-Ljbffr Alvin-Isd
