Estimator

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to prepare accurate, commercially sound estimates and quotations for a varied portfolio of projects. Working closely with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, project managers and operational teams, you will assess requirements, interpret drawings and specifications, and develop clear pricing proposals that support successful project delivery. Your responsibilities will include reviewing tender documents, scopes of work, drawings and schedules; identifying materials, labour, plant, subcontractor and associated project costs; obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations; and preparing detailed estimates, bills of quantities and formal tenders. You will maintain accurate records of assumptions, exclusions, risks and value-engineering opportunities, while ensuring all submissions are completed within agreed deadlines. You will also liaise with internal stakeholders to clarify requirements, contribute to pricing reviews and handover meetings, and support the monitoring of project costs against original estimates. From time to time, you may assist with post-tender negotiations, variations, forecasting and continuous improvement of estimating processes.


Applicants should have proven experience in an estimating, quantity surveying or closely related role, ideally within construction, engineering, manufacturing or another project-based environment. Strong numerical and analytical skills are essential, along with the ability to interpret technical information and produce accurate, well-presented documentation. You should be confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and familiar with estimating or costing software. Excellent organisation, communication and negotiation skills are required, as is the ability to manage competing priorities and work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team. A relevant technical, commercial or industry qualification would be advantageous. Above all, you will demonstrate integrity, attention to detail, sound commercial judgement and a proactive approach to delivering high-quality estimates.
