Medical Assistant, SG-08 - Mary Walker Health Center

The Mary Walker Health Center at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications to fill a Medical Assistant position, Grade 08 vacancy. This is a permanent, full-time position assigned to the Mary Walker Health Center.

Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Salary: In accordance with the CSEA Administrative Services Unit Agreement. In addition, the State University of New York provides an excellent benefit package.

Description of Responsibilities: As a Medical Assistant, you would perform clinical, laboratory, and clerical support activities. Duties would include, but not necessarily be limited to: preparing patients for examination, taking and recording patient vital signs and blood pressure, performing simple treatment procedures such as EKG's and changing non-sterile dressings; performing standardized, routine laboratory procedures such as phlebotomy and patient specimen collection and processing. You may also perform routine clerical activities such as patient reception, producing reports, answering telephones, scheduling appointments, checking insurance eligibility, and collecting payments.

There is no written test and no test date is involved. The NYS-APP IS YOUR TEST. Do NOT send resumes. If you need more space, attach 8 1/2" x 11" inch sheets, following the same format used on the NYS-APP form.

Your completed NYS-APP will be the only basis for rating your educational background, relevant certification(s) and experience. Failure to complete the NYS-APP may result in disqualification.

Minimum Qualifications: On or before the date of filing your application, you must have either completed an approved Medical Assistant Program which is a minimum of one year in duration; or completed an approved Medical Assistant Program which is less than one year in duration AND post Medical Assistant Program experience in a clinical/health care setting that together equals at least one year; or a license, limited permit, or be eligible for a limited permit to practice as a Practical Nurse in New York State or Licensed Practical Nurse certification.
