Staff Accountant

XStar Aviation is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant to support our growing aerospace operations. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in accounting principles, proficiency in Government Contract Accounting, and hands-on experience with Deltek Costpoint. This role provides critical support to the Manager Government Account/Controller in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with government regulations, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes Key ResponsibilitiesPerform daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations.Support month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial reportingPrepare and reconcile balance sheet accounts and support financial statement preparation.Assist the Manager Government Accounting/Controller with internal and external audit processes.Maintain compliance with FAR, DFARS, and other government accounting standards.Generate financial reports and analysis to support operational and executive decision-making.Enter, review, and reconcile transactions in DELTEK Costpoint, ensuring accuracy and adherence to contract requirements.Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis activities.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including contracts, operations, and procurement, to ensure proper financial controls and accounting treatment.Assist in process improvement initiatives to streamline accounting workflows and strengthen internal controls.Required QualificationsBachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.Minimum 5 years of professional accounting experience.Solid understanding of GAAP and government contract accounting principles and practices.Strong proficiency with DELTEK Costpoint or related ERP.Experience supporting a Controller or similar senior finance role.Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Preferred QualificationsExperience in aviation, aerospace, or defense contracting.Experience with DCAA financial audits and compliance reviews.Working knowledge of CAS/FAR Part31/DFARS complianceWork EnvironmentRemotePhysical RequirementsSedentary work -- prolonged sitting and working on computerTravel RequiredMinimal Travel - approximately 10% - travel may be required for training or company site visitsWork Authorization and ClearanceU.S. Citizen RequiredCandidates must currently hold an active Secret clearance, or be able to obtain and maintain one.Equal Opportunity StatementXStar is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
