Seasonal Harbor Operations Specialist

Some of what you'll be doing: There are two (2) positions available at different locations and work hours: Shilshole Bay Marina – Thursday - Sunday (12:30pm to 10:30pm) Bell Harbor Marina – Friday – Monday (7:00am to 5:00pm) As a Seasonal Harbor Operations Specialist, you will be front-line operational staff for Port properties for commercial fishing, commercial and recreational vessel facilities. You will manage day-to-day operations of maritime business and ensure all activities are followed according to set expectations, policies, and procedures for safety, environmental, and efficiency. You will provide customer service and standard operational information to current and prospective customers and the public. You will establish and maintain positive interactions with customers to address their concerns, answer their questions, and assist with their needs. You will provide property security by patrolling buildings, upland gated fence storage yards, and lockers ensuring that all areas are locked and secured for facility and public safety. You will provide parking enforcement ensuring proper policies and procedures. You will collaborate with other Harbor Operations Specialists, contracted security, Portfolio Manager, and maintenance personnel to meet customer needs. You will exchange information and provide daily updates to bring awareness to routine events, scheduled special events, and activities which may impact the facility operations. You will provide updates and revised post orders to on-coming Duty Harbor Specialist at shift turnover. You will act as first responder and operate skiff in emergency situations (i.e., person in the water, oil, fuel, or chemical spills) and deploy oil boom equipment for spill response. You will also execute containment procedures to provide containment for vessel spills, following proper incident reporting for regulatory agencies per policy. Who you are: Experienced – You have one (1) year of experience in facilities, maintenance or security operations. Knowledgeable –You are familiar with boat and marina operations, including marina environmental regulations and guidelines. Independent Problem-solver – You have well-developed problem-solving skills and conflict resolution skills to effectively manage through expected and unexpected change. You can also work independently with minimal supervision. What else you need to know: Driver’s License – You will need a valid Washington State Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain one, is required in order to travel locally. Work Schedule –See above for schedule based on work location. You may be required to work during emergencies. Work Environment – You will generally work outdoors in all types of weather conditions, as well as in an office environment. You may be exposed to areas of high noise or various hazardous materials. Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State. Limited Duration – This is a limited duration position and is expected to last no longer than October 31, 2026. Overtime Eligible – You are eligible for overtime pay in this role.
