Operations ManagerThe Operations Manager is a self-starting, people-oriented and experienced professional who will manage and guide United's 3PL Distribution Center. As the Operations Manager the primary focus will be to ensure productivity, efficiency and maximize the sites profitability. This responsibility includes a strategic approach to business planning, directing daily activities, labor planning, operational efficiency, employee management and ensuring the business meets its daily performance goals.Essential FunctionsManage and direct warehouse operations and personnel, including: shipping, receiving, order processing, packing, product put-away, returns and ICLead, train and develop warehouse associates to set up and enable inbound and outbound operations that provide unparalleled customer serviceDrive site profitability maximizing profit per square footMonitor and manage claims, error rates and overtime hoursMaintain high levels of accuracy in inventory integrity by establishing a cycle count program and product consolidationEnsure warehouse operation is clean, safe, secure and efficientCollect, analyze and present statistical technical data to senior leadershipDrive workflow in the DC, including receiving, put away, picking, shipping, and administrative activities to ensure objectives are met in an efficient mannerDirect the DC safety program for the assigned shift to ensure the safety of all associates within the work placeLead daily warehouse meetings and interact with line supervisors and the 3PL customer to ensure shift and facility objectives are being metDirect the functions and personnel of a shift or function to achieve desired results per the daily operations planAssigns, schedules and directs operations of warehouse, including allocation of personnel and assignments of freight for storage; coordinates transfer of freight between warehouses; determines loading, unloading and freight shipment schedulesParticipate in the annual budget process to assure all expenses are covered and justifiedReviews bills of lading for incoming merchandise and customer orders in order to plan work activitiesEstablishes operational procedures for verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of merchandise, and keeping of warehouse inventoryAdministers routine personnel matters affect direct subordinates, including interviewing applicants, hiring, promoting, disciplining, terminating, etc.; approves time sheets, submits required paperwork, etcPerform within KPI acceptable standards, update KPIs and improve KPIsAssigns workers to specific duties, such as verifying amounts of and storing incoming merchandise and assembling customer orders for deliveryPrepares and maintains warehouse budget to profit plan and manages within limits of authorityReport and assist maintaining entire building including dock and office area as per established building agreement requirementsMaintain records for forklift training, maintenance and daily checklist as per OSHA regulationsPartner with Human Resources to handle all employee situationsCompetenciesPersonal Effectiveness-Integrity, continuous learning, awareness of business needs and others, interpersonal skills and creativityMath, statistics, and analytical thinkingReading and writing for comprehensionCommunication - Collaborate with other employees at different organizational levelsSupply chain fundamentalsStrong business acumenOperations and enterprise economicsDrive workplace and leadership capabilitiesExecution, planning, scheduling, and controlProcess improvementSecurity and safetyWarehouse Management SystemWork EnvironmentThis position works partially in an office setting and in the warehouse.Required Education and ExperienceMinimum 5-7 years' experience in warehouse managementBachelor's degree in business administration or a related fieldStrong business focus and demonstrate an ability to act in partnership with management teamKnowledge of basic warehouse proceduresAble to lift 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods of timeAbility to identify opportunities to increase accuracy and optimize resourcesExperienced in motivating associates by using constructive criticism and positive reinforcementStrong problem-solving skillsProficiency with Microsoft Office (Word & Excel)Able to work in a fast pace environment and maintain composureAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsAbility to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizationTo perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet software, inventory software and database softwarePhysical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
