Long-Standing Manhattan GC is Hiring a CFO/Controller Salary: $200,000 - $300,000 per year A Bit About Us We are a Manhattan based family-owned general contractor with a deep track record of building high-quality affordable and mixed-income housing across New York City. We're growing our finance team and looking for a Controller/CFO who wants to do meaningful work in a tight-knit, hands-on environment. Why Join Us Build housing that has a real impact on New York City communities Direct exposure to ownership and the full lifecycle of complex affordable housing deals Family-owned culture — your work is seen, and good performers move up Competitive benefits and clear growth path Responsibilities Lead the full finance stack: month, quarter, and year end close, financial statements (internal and external), regulatory reporting, and accounting policy Budgeting, forecasting, and ad-hoc analysis to support decision-making; serve as a financial thought partner to ownership and functional heads Oversee day-to-day accounting operations across accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, job costing, and credit/collections Coordinate project finance with Operations and Project Management: set up work in progress, cost reports, and ongoing projections Manage the full audit slate: financial, corporate, insurance, CCIP, 401(k), sales tax, and tax filings plus regulatory work Partner with the Risk Director on CCIP reporting and audit cycle Liaise with external advisors: audit firm, tax advisors, and advisors handling ownership’s personal and estate matters Continuously improve financial systems, controls, and processes together with the CEO and executive team Hire, develop, and manage the accounting team Qualifications 15+ years in construction accounting, including time in a Controller position BA/BS in accounting or finance; CPA strongly preferred (MBA/MS a plus) Experience at an NYC GC preferred Deep fluency in GC finance mechanics: job costing, WIP, percentage-of-completion, and CCIP/OCIP environments Comfort building and tightening controls, policies, and close processes within a growing business Strong systems orientation; Sage 300 a plus, advanced Excel expected Proven leader of an accounting team — hires well, develops people, and runs the function with rigor Clear communicator and natural business partner across operations, project management, and ownership Sharp analytical instincts paired with sound judgment and an operational bent EEO Statement Jobot is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
