Executive in Residence (United States)

Prospera Executive is supporting a lower middle market healthcare private equity fund in building out its Executive in Residence (EIR) programme. The fund has a strong track record of building platforms from scratch.

The fund recently closed an oversubscribed vehicle and has completed multiple platform investments to date, with strong realised returns across several exits. Its EIR programme partners proven operators with the investment team to find, diligence and build new platforms. For the right executive, the goal is to lead the resulting business as CEO once a deal completes.

The Programme

EIRs work alongside the investment team before a platform exists. They shape the thesis, source opportunities through their own networks and markets, and bring operating conviction to deals the fund is assessing. This search focuses on healthcare and healthcare-adjacent services businesses. These include medical equipment repair and maintenance, testing and inspection (life safety, gas, water systems), medical waste, equipment rental and pharma services. Target businesses will have meaningful healthcare or regulated end-market exposure and strong recurring revenue. A mixed healthcare and industrial customer base is within scope.

What EIRs Do

• Work with the fund on vertical selection, market entry strategy and platform design
• Originate opportunities through their own industry and regional networks, and bring them to the fund
• Support diligence on targets the fund is assessing, giving an operator’s view of branch economics, workforce, systems and growth levers
• Act as the fund’s operating presence in their home market, giving the deal team more conviction on local opportunities
• Once a platform is acquired, step into leadership: build the corporate infrastructure, drive organic growth and new branches, integrate add-ons, and hire the management team

Candidate Profile

• A track record of building a multi-site services business from zero. Founder or greenfield build experience is the defining criterion
• Comfort operating without established infrastructure. This executive builds the machine rather than inheriting one
• Experience scaling across multiple geographies, service branches or field operations
• Experience running a business with recurring or contracted revenue, ideally with healthcare, life sciences or other regulated customers
• Private equity experience: prior experience working alongside a PE sponsor as a platform CEO, Operating Partner, founder-operator or EIR, including value creation planning, board reporting and add-on M&A
• A strong industry network and the credibility to open doors with owners and operators in their sector
• Thesis-driven and commercially engaged: someone who will test the fund’s ideas, push back where needed and help get the right deal done

The vertical is open within services. The fund invests across healthcare services and adjacent sectors, and has built and exited platforms in a range of specialties.
