Description Litigation Associate Sioux Falls, South Dakota | Full-Time Description Woods, Fuller, Shultz & Smith P.C. is seeking a talented and motivated Litigation Associate to join our Sioux Falls office. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who is looking to build a meaningful litigation practice while working alongside experienced attorneys in a collaborative, full-service law firm. Our associates are given substantive responsibility, meaningful client interaction, and opportunities to develop practical legal skills early in their careers. The ideal candidate will be a strong writer and communicator who is analytical, detail-oriented, and eager to take an active role in representing clients. Responsibilities The Litigation Associate will have the opportunity to work on a broad range of matters and will be responsible for, among other things: Meeting and communicating directly with clients to understand their legal needs and develop effective strategies. Conducting legal research and analysis and preparing written work product. Drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, correspondence, agreements, and other legal documents. Assisting with all stages of litigation, including case development, discovery, motion practice, negotiations, and trial preparation. Representing clients in negotiations and other proceedings as appropriate. Managing assigned matters and deadlines with appropriate guidance and supervision. Preparing and completing court filings and other legal documents. Collaborating with attorneys and professional staff across practice areas to develop practical and effective solutions for clients. Developing and maintaining strong professional relationships with clients, attorneys, courts, and other professionals. Requirements Qualifications J.D. from an accredited law school. Admission to, or eligibility for admission to, the South Dakota Bar. Strong academic credentials; candidates graduating in the top 33% of their law school class are preferred. Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple matters and competing deadlines effectively. Demonstrated interest in litigation and dispute resolution. A professional, collaborative approach and a commitment to providing exceptional client service.
