Underground Fiber Construction - Nevada

Allstates Consulting Services is seeking experienced Directional Drill Operators, HDD Locators for underground fiber construction projects throughout Nevada.
We are looking for experienced underground construction professionals who can safely and efficiently install conduit and fiber infrastructure while working around existing utilities.

This is NOT an entry-level directional drilling position. Previous underground utility construction experience is required for Drill Operators and Locators.

POSITIONS AVAILABLE

Directional Drill Operators / Drillers
Responsibilities include:

• Operate horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment, including Vermeer, Ditch Witch, or similar equipment
• Perform pilot bores, reaming, and product/conduit pullbacks
• Read and follow construction prints, bore profiles, and project specifications
• Coordinate continuously with the locator to maintain proper bore depth, direction, and clearance
• Adjust drilling techniques based on soil conditions, existing utilities, obstructions, and changing field conditions
• Walk and verify proposed bore paths before drilling
• Perform daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance
• Properly set up and ground drilling equipment
• Maintain accurate bore logs, including depth and location information
• Work safely around existing electric, gas, water, sewer, telecommunications, and other underground utilities
• Assist with potholing/daylighting existing utilities as required

HDD Locators
Responsibilities include:

• Operate electronic HDD locating equipment to accurately track the drill head
• Maintain communication with the drill operator throughout the bore
• Monitor and communicate drill-head depth, pitch, direction, and position
• Walk and verify the proposed bore path before drilling begins
• Identify potential conflicts with existing underground utilities
• Read and interpret construction drawings, utility prints, and field markings
• Calibrate and maintain locating equipment, sondes, and beacons
• Maintain accurate bore logs and field documentation
• Assist in determining appropriate bore paths around existing utilities and obstacles
• Help ensure proper clearances are maintained throughout drilling operations
• Assist with potholing/daylighting utilities when required

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous underground utility construction experience
• Experienced Drill Operators and Locators must have hands-on HDD experience
• Ability to safely work around existing underground utilities
• Ability to read and understand construction prints and utility markings
• Knowledge of underground fiber and conduit installation
• Understanding of utility potholing/daylighting procedures
• Strong commitment to jobsite safety
• Ability to work outdoors in Nevada weather and changing field conditions
• Ability to perform physically demanding construction work
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
• Ability to travel between project locations as required
• Must be dependable and able to work as part of a production-oriented underground construction crew

HIGHLY DESIRED EXPERIENCE

• Vermeer and/or Ditch Witch HDD equipment
• HDD locating systems
• Underground telecommunications/fiber construction
• Bore logs and as-built documentation
• Hydro-vac excavation
• Excavators and mini excavators
• Installation of conduit, handholes, vaults, and pedestals
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
• CDL Class A
• Experience working around active electric, gas, water, sewer, and telecommunications facilities

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We need experienced underground construction professionals who understand that production and safety go hand-in-hand .
Drill Operators and Locators must be able to work together as a team, understand the bore plan, recognize potential utility conflicts, communicate continuously, and safely complete underground installations without damaging existing infrastructure.
Heavy Equipment Operators must be comfortable excavating in active utility environments and supporting high-production underground fiber crews.

Experienced HDD crews are strongly encouraged to apply.

Multiple project locations may be available. Travel within the market may be required.
