Cardiothoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner

Location: Colorado Springs, CO
Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent

Compensation

• $100,588 – $143,769 annually
• Quality & Productivity Bonus Eligible

Schedule

• Full-Time Days
• Rotating weekday and weekend call
• In-house overnight NP support (8:30 PM – 6:30 AM)

Position Overview

Join a collaborative Cardiothoracic Surgery team providing advanced care to cardiac surgery patients across the operating room, CVICU, inpatient units, and outpatient clinic. This role is ideal for an experienced Nurse Practitioner with strong cardiac surgery and ICU management experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide advanced care for cardiothoracic surgery patients.
• Assist in cardiac surgeries, including endoscopic vein harvesting and first assisting.
• Manage CVICU, inpatient, and outpatient cardiac surgery patients.
• Conduct patient evaluations, rounds, and follow-up visits.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging.
• Develop and implement treatment plans.
• Perform bedside procedures within scope of practice.
• Prescribe medications and maintain accurate clinical documentation.
• Collaborate with surgeons, intensivists, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Participate in rotating operating room coverage and clinic schedules.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• ANCC or AANPCB Board Certification.
• Active Colorado NP License (or eligibility to obtain).
• DEA License with full prescriptive authority.
• Current BLS Certification (AHA or American Red Cross).
• Minimum 3 years of cardiac or cardiovascular surgery experience with ICU patient management OR experience with endoscopic vein harvesting and first assisting.
• Eligible for Medicare/Medicaid provider status.
• Clean professional background with no sanctions or exclusions.
