Classroom Teacher

Owen County Schools is seeking a Classroom Teacher. The job code varies based on the grade level: Preschool (2010), Kindergarten (2025), Primary (2030), Elementary (2040), Middle (2050), High (2060), and Exceptional Children (2095). The qualification required is a valid Kentucky Teaching Certificate. The teacher reports to the Principal.

Job Goal: To create a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate students to acquire knowledge, skills and attitudes that society feels will contribute to their development into mature, able and responsible men and women in accordance with each student's ability and to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Perform duties assigned by the principal.
• Create and maintain a conducive learning environment.
• Develop daily lesson plans and instructional materials.
• Translate lesson plans into learning experiences.
• Guide the learning process toward achieving curriculum goals.
• Employ appropriate instructional methods and materials.
• Assist the administration in implementing policies.
• Assess student accomplishments and provide progress reports.
• Seek assistance from District specialists as needed.
• Establish standards of pupil behavior.
• Work with faculty to develop instructional programs.
• Participate in teacher evaluation methods.
• Supervise pupils in and out of classroom activities.
• Maintain grades and attendance.
• Plan and supervise assignments for Instructional Assistant(s) and volunteers.
• Participate in parent/teacher conferences.
• Maintain accurate records as required by law.
• Continue personal professional growth.
• Attend staff meetings and serve on committees.
• Perform health services training as needed.
• Ensure safekeeping of school property.
• Maintain confidentiality of information.
• Maintain acceptable personal attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Terms of Employment: Salary and number of days per year set annually by the Board of Education.

Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Personnel.
