Mobile Diesel Mechanic II 2nd Shift

JOB SUMMARY Mobile Diesel Technician II – Dedicated on‑site position responsible for performing certified DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and advanced repairs, and related duties at customer sites. This role requires advanced diagnostics, triage, and consultation with both customers and fellow technicians. DUTIES Follow safe operating practices and procedures. Manage parts inventory on company‑issued service truck and conduct periodic reconciliation. Operate company‑issued service vehicle, perform safety checks, and conduct pre‑ and post‑trip inspections. Apply technical knowledge to perform work, evaluate information, and execute repairs. Communicate effectively with clients to assess needs, provide information, and resolve problems. Prioritize concurrent tasks and make judgments on scheduling. Maintain integrity, confidentiality, and adherence to ethical standards. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on trailers and equipment. Respond to call‑center dispatched unscheduled service and maintenance requests. Use hand tools, precision instruments, trailer tools, welding equipment, and jacks. Document work, upload pictures, and record findings on Repair Orders using company iOS device and TRAIT application. Accurately complete DOT forms and other required documentation. Work independently and manage daily schedule. Maintain productivity within standard repair times. Obtain parts from approved vendors as required. Communicate with management for repair estimates and purchase orders. Perform all work in compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and company safety policies. Complete all company safety training. Establish working relationships with customers and vendors; communicate effectively. Maintain company‑issued service truck and perform safety inspections. Make minor adjustments and repairs on trailer systems such as aluminum, chem‑lite, brakes, air lines, pumps, engines, liftgates, and brake chambers. Adhere to company policies, processes, and procedures. Keep current with safety protocols and procedures. Diagnose, adjust, and repair trailer equipment and systems using test instruments. Assist Mobile Trailer Technician I with diagnostics. Support Mobile Trailer Technicians I & II in inventory reconciliation and provide technical advice. Perform advanced diagnostics and triage of complicated repairs for Mobile Trailer Technicians I & II. REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma/GED and five years of related experience (alternative combinations accepted). Possess a set of hand tools necessary for job duties. Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months. Obtain ASE 608/609 certification within 18 months. Pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical. Maintain a valid DOT medical card with at least four months remaining, or complete a DOT physical if validity is less than four months. Be at least 21 years old and fully authorized to operate interstate commercial vehicles. Maintain safe driving record; 3‑year MVR review required and hold a valid state driver’s license. Maintain Driver Qualification File (DQF) in accordance with DOT rules. REQUIRED OR OBTAINED WITHIN 18 MONTHS ASE T8 (PMI) certification ASE 608/609 certification CDL‑A license PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS ASE T4 (Brakes) certification ASE T5 (Suspension) certification ASE T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems) certification ASE T7 (HVAC) certification SKILLS & ABILITIES Knowledge of trailer parts, systems, and repair techniques. Apply new information to problem‑solving and decision‑making. Physical stamina to perform moderate heavy labor, lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for extended periods. Accurate visual estimation of distances and object proximity. Effectively communicate information succinctly and organize content. Determine necessary tools and equipment for tasks. COMPENSATION Hourly pay ranging from $29.42 to $44.13 per hour. Additional compensation may include commission, annual or monthly incentives, and other variable pay.
