Stroke & Interventional Neurology Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Nocturnist

Overview Ochsner Health offers a collaborative outpatient care model with residents, fellows, attendings, and staff. This role reports to the Medical Director and works with PCCs, nurses, and discharge coordinators to plan, implement, and evaluate medical and nursing care. This position assumes responsibility for primary and urgent medical management, emergency stabilization of critically ill patients, teaching residents and medical students, staff development and education, patient education, and discharge planning. Key Responsibilities Provide primary and urgent medical care, including emergency stabilization of critically ill patients. Teach and supervise residents, medical students, and staff. Develop and conduct educational sessions for patients, families, staff, and community. Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care and nursing care plans. Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and accreditation standards. Maintain professional knowledge of state and federal healthcare regulations. Qualifications Education Master’s degree in Nursing. Or Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant Medicine or Health Sciences, or graduation from an approved Physician Assistant Training Program. Work Experience Required: None. Preferred: 3 years of related experience. Certifications Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in the state of practice. Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Acute Care Clinical Nurse Specialist by AACN or ANCC. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications from the American Heart Association. Eligibility for Prescriptive Authority in the state of practice. For Physician Assistant: Current license as a Physician Assistant and NCCPA certification. Eligibility for Prescriptive Authority as a Physician Assistant. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Computer skills for data entry and retrieval. Effective verbal and written communication; ability to present information clearly. Proficiency with Windows applications and related software. Strong interpersonal skills. Working knowledge of Advanced Practice Provider policies and protocols. Reliable transportation to travel between facilities. Physical and Environmental Demands Medium work: occasional lifting of 20‑50 pounds, frequent lifting of 10‑25 pounds, and light lifting up to 10 pounds continuously. Requires walking or standing for significant periods, standing for extended periods, stooping, bending, reaching, manual dexterity, and exposure to blood, body fluids, and potential communicable diseases.
