CNC Tooling Pre-setter - Afternoon shift

We are seeking a Tooling Pre-setter who is responsible for providing preset tooling to the Production Department that complies with the setup documentation given on each job, maintaining organized tooling inventory system, making weekly runs to local vendors, and running CNC machines as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

Analyzes pre-set tooling report to determine what jobs are going to need pre-set for the appropriate time schedule.

Pre-sets tooling for the entire Production department.

Tears down and puts away incoming tooling. This includes but is not limited to, inspecting the tooling being put away, greasing tools when required, and replacing damaged or overly used hardware.

Maintains inventory system for all tooling used throughout the Production Department, including marking tooling and recording location. Provides input regarding inventory system policies and procedures as needed.

Orders replacement tooling for production, assembly, maintenance, tool room, and checks incoming tool shipments for accuracy.

Makes weekly runs to local vendors to purchase necessary products for production, assembly, maintenance, tool room, and any other department.

Sends tooling to vendors for repairs, as needed.

Maintains the upkeep of special tooling, grinding, sharpening, and identifying special tooling when necessary.

Operates and maintains the drill sharpener(s).

Operates and maintains the tooling pre-setter(s).

Occasionally operates production machines.

Reads and interprets measurements of parts using various precision instruments, including calipers, micrometers and gauges.

Maintains clean and orderly work area which includes but is not limited to, sweeping chips, mopping floor, keeping countertop and drawers clean and orderly.

Proactively offers suggestions for the improvement of a product, process or practice.

Performs related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES :

Experience, education and/or training in a machine shop or industrial production preferred.

Working knowledge of and ability to operate a computer and applicable software.

Working knowledge of and ability to make practical application of OSHA and company safety precautions and procedures.

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, prints, specifications, instruments, gauges, and dials.

Ability to physically and safely start, load/unload and/or operate assigned machines, equipment and hand tools, including CNC lathes, drill press, hydraulic press, cutting tools, grinders, belt sanders, pressure washers, deburring tools, files, wrenches and drivers.

Working knowledge of all tools, inserts, and related hardware used in production process, and ability to use vendor catalogs as needed.

Ability to work alone and with others in a team environment, work rapidly for long periods, work on several tasks at the same time, often under time pressure under minimum supervision.

Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.

Ability to maintain frequent contact with other company departments and vendors for the purpose of exchanging information and solving problems.

Ability to effectively communicate with other company personnel, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities, and disabilities.

Ability to occasionally work extended hours.
