Position Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our Developmental, Behavioral, and Learning Clinics. This role focuses on the evaluation and management of developmental, behavioral, and learning differences in children and adolescents. The APP will work collaboratively within an interprofessional team to provide patient and family-centered, comprehensive care. Key Responsibilities Participate in comprehensive assessments, including developmental, behavioral, and learning evaluations. Diagnose and manage conditions such as ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, and mental health concerns in youth with developmental disabilities. Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams. Provide education, counseling, and support to patients and caregivers. Collaborate with psychologists, therapists, educators, and physicians to coordinate care. Initiate and monitor treatment plans, including pharmacologic management when applicable. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinic development efforts. Preferred Qualifications Experience in developmental behavioral pediatrics, pediatric neurology, mental health, and/or developmental disabilities preferred. Clinical Responsibilities and Role Overview Obtain relevant health and medical history, perform thorough physical assessment, review and interpret diagnostic tests, develop differential diagnoses, and implement treatment plans including prescribing pharmacologic agents, ordering investigations, and scheduling follow-up. Incorporate evidence-based initiatives, conduct preventive health screenings, maintain clear records, and update knowledge of disease processes and specialty literature. Educate clients and families regarding medical condition, treatment, and follow-up; collaborate with clinicians, staff, and students to promote continuity and patient-centered care. Develop educational materials and deliver instruction to staff and students. Provide instruction to physicians, housestaff, nursing, ancillaries, and students through precepting, shadowing, lectures, training, CE, rounds, and meetings. Participate in community and network outreach programs and lead systems improvement initiatives. Interact with patients and families in a respectful, courteous, and timely manner using appropriate communication. Collaborate with coworkers and staff, respond quickly to meet customer needs, and share responsibility for overall workload. Engage in continuous quality improvement, consult management on clinical/system issues, lead interdisciplinary teams, revise protocols or guidelines, influence policy-making, and develop new clinical programs or services to improve patient care. Education Requirements Completion of an accredited graduate-level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program. Licensure/Certification Requirements Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (i.e., Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) in the state of North Carolina. Board certification if required by the Department. DEA registration. Professional Experience Requirements No prior experience required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements Demonstrated clinical competency. Effective leadership skills and strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Demonstrated written and verbal communication and strong analytical skills. Effective interaction to ensure the successful care of patients in the clinical setting. Documentation in the medical record to substantiate accurate billing.
