Postdoctoral Associate - Plant Pathology & Plant Microbe Biology

Position Function This position requires an experienced scientist to conduct research on the ecological, chemical, and molecular mechanisms that mediate microbe‑plant‑insect interactions in complex communities using model and non‑model organisms. The individual is required to use tools in chemical ecology, genomics, molecular biology, and AI‑driven predictive modeling in the research project. Gather and merge existing data from lab and literature. Complete experiments and synthesize data. Prepare monthly and yearly updates for funding agency. Contribute to lab duties and maintain lab safety. Complete manuscripts and grant proposals for peer review. Participate in outreach through advising undergraduates on research and presenting research to the public and academic audiences. Anticipated Division of Time Lab Research 70% Computer Research 10% Field/Greenhouse Research 5% Writing and manuscripts 10% Requirements PhD in Plant Biology, Entomology, Microbiology, or a related field. Experience working with plants as part of their PhD project. Enthusiastic, strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to work with diverse teams. Aptitude for organization and multitasking, capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary and interactive research environment. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience and willingness to mentor early career scientists, including graduate and undergraduate students. Preferred: Experience in successful grant writing. Experience in leadership and/or management. Supervision Exercised This position may supervise undergraduate students and provide oversight to technical staff (Technician) in the lab.
