Qualifications and Competencies

• High School Diploma + 5 years human services OR Bachelor’s degree.
• Must have a Valid Driver's License
• Organizational and communication skills for working with staff, clients, families, and community.
• Critical thinking and judgment skills required.

General Description

Provide supportive counseling and skills training to individuals diagnosed with mental illness to enhance independent living abilities. Support residents in developing greater independence in daily activities, personal care, skill building, and community integration. The Residential Counselor position is full-time, working Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Participates in planning and evaluation of service plans and monitors objectives.
• Writes progress notes monthly or as needed.
• Trains and assists residents in daily living skills.
• Monitors medication.
• Provides transportation and accompanies residents to activities.
• Offers counseling, crisis management, and behavioral interventions.
• Assists in daily management of the residence.
• Administers residence in absence of Senior Counselor.
• Documents emergencies and notifies supervisors as needed.
• Case management, follow-up, and other duties as assigned.
