OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

Job Details: Job Location: Puyallup, WA 98372. Position Type: Per Diem. Salary Range: $57.00 - $63.00 hourly. Job Category: Health Care. Position: Provides and directs all aspects of quality patient care, including evaluation and treatment, treatment planning, goal setting, family education and documentation according to organization guidelines, professional standards, and community needs. Serves as a patient and rehabilitation advocate for current prospective patients, to all internal and external customers. Participates in quality assurance and customer service activities. Responsible To: Facility Rehab Director. FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt. Essential Job Functions Initiate evaluations per physician orders, payer authorization, and facility/payer source guidelines. Develop treatment plans and provide treatment, consistent with benefits and reimbursement levels, to achieve the best functional outcome for patients. Educate staff, other health care professionals, and third‑party payers on the benefits and functional outcomes of intervention. Complete documentation, including evaluations, daily progress notes, summaries, and monthly reports, as required. Enter information into computer systems, including EMR and rehab systems. Screen all individuals who may benefit from therapeutic intervention. Use professional judgment to ensure safety of self, patients, and others at all times. Achieve quality patient care through interdisciplinary co‑operation, co‑treatment, and by setting up protocols and programs. Attend continuing education seminars and workshops to keep abreast of new clinical skills, programs, or techniques. Provide in‑service training sessions or other educational presentations to the company, team, or facility to enhance clinical and professional knowledge and skills. Provide assistants and rehab techs with clear directives concerning patients and treatment plans prior to initiation of patient care. Collaborate with Program Specialists and supervisor to develop and implement new programs and techniques to enhance program utilization. Maintain appropriate state licensure, certification, and credentialing. Submit billing, payroll, and expense documentation in a timely manner. Make appropriate referrals to other members of the rehab team. Job Functions Direct and supervise the work of assistants, rehab aides, and students, as applicable, in accordance with state and federal guidelines. Follow all organizational and facility safety procedures regarding personal protection and patient safety. Key information into computer systems. Expand and enhance clinical and professional knowledge through associations and continuing education. Support and participate in department operations and development. Communicate patient status and needs to patients, families, caregivers, and other members involved in patient care. Physical Capacities Move intermittently throughout the workday. Use visual and auditory senses or prosthetics to ensure adequate function for job requirements. Meet general health requirements, including annual TB screening and physical examination. Lift up and over 100 pounds with assistance, according to resident abilities. Sit for extended periods and walk for extended periods. Travel to reach assigned destinations in a reasonable time frame. Bend, squat, push, stoop, and pull as needed, especially in fulfilling resident care activities. Coping with mental and emotional stress of the position. Environmental Conditions Inside work environment with normal temperatures, some noise, occasional fumes/odors, chemical exposure, and potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens. The job cannot be performed without exposure to stresses associated with an intimate, 24‑hour skilled care environment primarily for disabled and cognitively impaired residents in an aging population. Qualifications and Requirements Graduate of an approved curriculum in Occupational Therapy. In good standing with all regulatory agencies and licensing boards. Working knowledge of Medicare and other payer sources. Full knowledge of resident rights. Current, active license as an Occupational Therapist, able to practice unencumbered. CPR certification, as required for license renewal. Experience in long‑term care preferred. Able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously. Read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical information, and communicate in English. Perform basic mathematical operations using units of weight and volume. Exceptional communication and customer service skills, with empathy and professionalism in presentation.
