RN - Registered Nurse - Behavioral HealthLocated in the eastern part of the state of New Mexico, Clovis is a largely agricultural and ranching community, including peanut and cotton farming and cattle ranching used for both meat and dairy production. Clovis is the main support to Cannon Air Force Base. With several historical and tourist sites nearby, it is noted for its role in early rock music history. In the 1950s and 1960s when it was home to the Norman Petty Recording Studio, a top-charting hit like Buddy Holly's "Peggy Sue" was recorded there in July 1957. Cannon Air Force Base Cannon AFB is located approximately 7 miles southwest of Clovis, New Mexico. Originally established in 1943 as Army Air Base Clovis, Cannon is now known as the host to the 27th Special Operations Wing, a wing of the USAF.RequirementsMust have working knowledge of mental health levels of care to include post-hospital and acute care illness stabilization. Ability to anticipate and articulate to health management and/or interdisciplinary team members the patients' needs, requirements, abilities, and limitations.Must have comprehensive understanding of professional nursing care standards, theories, principles, practices, disease processes, and procedures to perform nursing assignments of moderate to severe difficulty for acute and chronically ill adult and geriatric patients as appropriate.Must possess a working knowledge of mental health, human growth and development, and pathophysiology of disease processes, as they apply to the care environment for all ages of the spectrum from adult to geriatrics.Knowledge of psychopharmacological agents used in patient treatment, knowledge of the desired effects, side effects and complications of their use, as well as the accurate administration of the psychopharmacologic agents. Must possess a working knowledge of the administrative requirements for proper documentation of patient conditions including the disease process, acknowledgement of teaching, and follow up care.Skill and tact in communicating with people who may be physically or mentally ill, uncooperative, fearful, emotionally distraught, and occasionally dangerous.Must possess organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills to articulate medical requirements to patients, families/caregivers, medical and non-medical staff in a professional and courteous way.As a member of the Primary Care Behavioral Health team, the Behavioral Health Care Facilitator (BHCF) assists Primary Care Managers (PCM) and Internal Behavioral Health Consultants (IBHC), optimizes efficiency and effectiveness of treatment by facilitating services between PCMs, IBHCs, and their patients.Monitors patients' prescribed psychotropic medications by their PCM for conditions of depression and anxiety disorders (e.g. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)) (diagnosis list is not all-inclusive).Monitors and facilitates adherence to treatments, provides education, coordinates care, maintains data registries, and performs the full scope of clinical nursing in the execution of primary care behavioral health services.Reacts quickly in emergency situations. Recognizes patients at risk for harm to self and/or others, or experiencing adverse signs and symptoms. Ability to calmly assess life-threating situations and appropriately coordinate/expedite life-saving intervention(s). Possesses competence in all required emergency procedures for the assigned patient population.QualificationsMust be a Registered Nurse with Bachelor's Degree (BSN) or higher from an accredited school.Must have a minimum of three (3) years full-time nursing experience and a minimum of two (2) years' experience in the last three (3) calendar years providing services such as psychiatric or mental/behavioral health nursing.Must be certified or eligible for certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse.Have and maintain a valid, unrestricted and unencumbered license in one of the 50 states in the U.S. or the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.Must have and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as approved by the American Heart Association (AHA).KurzSolutions is committed to improving health outcomes by providing well-managed companies with the top healthcare talent in the market.
