The reporting location is San Diego, CA. The Maintenance Aide reports directly to the Restoration Work Specialist in Old Town State Historic Park located at 4477 Pacific Highway, San Deigo, CA 92110.

The Senior Maintenance Aide performs skilled manual labor, research and documentation on Nationally Registered Historic Structures within Old Town State Historic Park. The normal shift is from 6:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. , Sunday-Wednesday. This position performs the following duties: Adobe repair and restoration on all components of historic structures including but not limited to foundations, walls, roofs, doors, windows, beams, columns, tiles, flooring, interior plaster, exterior render. Use of lime-based coatings, mineral paints, natural oils and thinners. Adobe block and plaster production. Site set-up and break-down. Tool maintenance. Project planning and development. Public outreach and education. Historic Research through libraries, archives and databases. Records all repairs and methodologies associated with a given historic structure.

This position can work 189 days in a 12 consecutive month period or a maximum of 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months per California Code of Regulation 265.1 . This position is designated as not telework eligible.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

Possession of a valid driver's license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.)
