Reporting to the Plant Manager, this person’s primary focus will be to plan and oversee the work of the maintenance staff and to ensure safe and efficient operations for the entire facility. The position is also responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the facility to include the proper working and reliability of all electrical and mechanical systems.The ideal candidate will have a technical degree and 10 years of maintenance related experience and/or training in the similar field; or equivalent number of years of education and work experience. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.What you’ll do:Provide supervision and leadership to plant maintenance employeesMonitor the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment and coordinate or initiate reordering when necessaryEnsure operating/training manuals are up to date and used for training employeesEnter maintenance related data into systems as needed/appropriateParticipate in Lean Manufacturing activities and promote the plant Lean cultureCoordinate and/or perform inspection of building and equipment as required by regulatory agenciesOversee maintenance functions with a drive to eliminate repetitive issues by developing personnel and using metrics to help make decisionsMinimize breakdowns or disruptions in the production processes by developing a preventative maintenance and inspection list and scheduleConduct regular inspections and audits to ensure proper functioning of equipment, and safety and environmental complianceCreate Capex Plans for facility and work with Operations and Management on equipment improvementsBe a leader in safety, and enforce company policy regarding EH&S and Lean InitiativesCreate and adhere to departmental budgetsLead maintenance transformation from a “break / fix” culture to a reliability-based maintenance culturePerform other duties as assignedWhat you’ll bring:Associates or technical degree and 10 years of maintenance related experience and/or training in the field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experienceBachelor’s degree in engineering preferredExperience in tubing/pipe environment or similar heavy manufacturing environment, along with supervisory experience preferredMust have strong Mechanical and Electrical skillsetsAbility to read and create electrical schematics and mechanical drawingsAbility to use CAD as well as Microsoft office suite such as excel, word, power pointGeneral PLC programming knowledgeUnderstanding of basic machine shop tools as well as welding and metal fabricationFamiliar with electric code requirementsExperience with installation of machinery and equipment as well as dis-assemblyGood understanding of basic math required for quick and accurate counting and calculationsAttention to detail, accuracy, time management, and organizationEffective leadership skills and problem-solving techniques. Great interpersonal skills with a strong ability to communicate both positive and negative messagesMust be adaptable to changes in the work environment, comfortable with multiple competing demands and able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events in a calm and logical mannerAll associates must embrace and foster an environment that supports our core values of Integrity, Respect, Excellence, Teamwork and AccountabilityOperating knowledge of the following machines and operating software; Milacron, Negri-Bossi and Battenfeld Plastic Extrusion/Injection Molding machinesKnowledge of Eputra Management software and JD Edwards MRPWithin 3 months, you’ll:Complete any required training.Have developed relationships with the key stakeholders for this role.Be well-versed in Atkore’s Business System and the importance of your role to daily operations.Within 6 months, you’ll:Update training materials and procedures.Partner with Safety and HR to investigate and provide corrective measures for on-the-job accidents, injuries, production issues, and HR issues.Identify ways to strengthen the team’s commitment to Atkore’s core values of Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect and Excellence.Within 12 months, you’ll:Be managing an efficient team that delivers Atkore’s strategy.Create and update reports, training materials and documentation.Have meaningful performance conversations with your direct reports.Be able to resolve any issues quickly and safely.Atkore is a six-time Great Place to Work® certified company and a four-time Top Workplaces USA award winner! Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs, and may change over time.
