About the Role
The Company is seeking a Vice President of Philanthropy to serve as the lead fundraising officer, providing strategic leadership for all philanthropic activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy that aligns with the organization's mission to advance scientific knowledge, empower a global community, and champion scientific integrity. This role involves working closely with the CEO, COO, programmatic leadership, philanthropy staff, and the Board of Directors to deepen existing relationships, identify new sources of support, and expand the long-term philanthropic pipeline. The VP will also lead a high-performing philanthropy team, oversee various giving programs, and ensure the organization meets its annual fundraising goals. Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree (advanced degree preferred) and a minimum of 15 years' fundraising experience, with a proven track record of securing major and principal gifts. The role requires exceptional communication, relationship-building, and influencing skills, as well as strong financial and analytical abilities. Experience in scientific, higher education, research, healthcare, engineering, or STEM-focused nonprofit organizations is a plus. The ideal candidate will have a CFRE credential or equivalent and be adept at using data and technology to enhance fundraising effectiveness. The position demands a leader who can champion a culture of philanthropy, manage a significant philanthropy budget, and ensure compliance with all legal, ethical, and financial standards.
