Maintenance Technician - 2nd Shift

Location: Onsite in Chestertown, MD

Pay: $28-35/hour

Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Technician to join our manufacturing team on 2nd shift. The primary purpose of this role is to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous operation. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and electrical maintenance experience, a working knowledge of PLCs (Allen-Bradley/Siemens), pneumatics, hydraulics, welding/fabrication, and a proven track record performing preventive and predictive maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance on production machinery to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems on automated equipment.
• Diagnose and repair PLC, HMI, and control system issues; work with Allen-Bradley and Siemens control platforms.
• Execute electrical wiring tasks, component replacements, and motor controls in accordance with electrical codes and company standards.
• Fabricate and weld components (MIG/TIG) as required to repair or improve machinery and fixtures.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to perform accurate repairs and modifications.
• Assist in commissioning and setup of new equipment, including calibration and functional testing.
• Implement and follow Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedures and promote a strong safety culture across the shift.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and parts inventories; report recurring issues and suggest improvements.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to prioritize repairs and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform root cause analysis on recurring failures and recommend corrective actions or design changes.
• Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to junior maintenance staff and apprentices.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Proficiency in mechanical maintenance (bearings, gearboxes, conveyors) and electrical maintenance (wiring, motor controls, starters).
• Experience with PLCs and HMIs, specifically Allen-Bradley and Siemens platforms, including troubleshooting and basic programming knowledge.
• Strong knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics systems, including valves, actuators, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Proficient in welding and fabrication (MIG/TIG) for equipment repair and modification.
• Solid ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and P&ID drawings.
• Familiarity with preventive and predictive maintenance practices, vibration analysis, and condition-based monitoring.
• Knowledge of Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedures and commitment to safety protocols; OSHA certification or equivalent preferred.
