Water Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Water Project Manager to lead the planning, design, delivery and commissioning of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will manage projects from initial feasibility through to completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards. Projects may include water treatment facilities, pumping stations, pipelines, reservoirs, drainage systems and associated civil, mechanical and electrical works.


Key responsibilities will include developing project programmes, budgets, procurement plans and risk registers; coordinating consultants, contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders; and monitoring progress against agreed milestones. You will review designs, technical submissions and construction methodologies, resolve project issues, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, environmental requirements, health and safety standards and industry specifications. The role will also involve managing change control, assessing commercial impacts, preparing progress reports and supporting contract administration, stakeholder engagement and handover activities.


Applicants should have a degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, water engineering, construction management or a related discipline, together with demonstrable experience delivering complex water or wastewater projects. A recognised project management qualification would be advantageous. You will need strong knowledge of project controls, construction processes, contract management and applicable water industry standards, as well as the ability to interpret technical drawings and financial information. Excellent communication, negotiation, organisation and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the confidence to lead multidisciplinary teams and build effective relationships with clients, regulators and delivery partners. A proactive approach, sound commercial judgement and a strong commitment to quality, sustainability and safe working practices are also required.
