Restaurant Prep Cook

We’re looking for an enthusiastic food prep worker who can deliver outstanding results in the kitchen prepping meals for our chef/cook. Your main responsibilities will be to stock, prepare and measure condiments and slice and dice foods. You’ll keep your workstation and equipment clean and follow all required safety protocols. Good organization skills, the ability to take directions well, and to read recipe instructions and labels in English, as well as handle a variety of kitchen equipment, sharp knives, and measuring tools are required. Some experience and an associate's degree are preferred but not required. If you are a positive self-starter who can work with minimal supervision, we want to meet you! Responsibilities: • Maintain a clean, organized prep area and workstation at all times, and sanitize equipment after each shift or when we close • Read recipe measurements, meal charts, label instructions in English, and use the correct measuring tools • Perform other basic cooking duties as necessary, such as brewing coffee or tea, preparing soups, reducing sauces, and assisting other cooks in the kitchen if needed • Prepare recipes using the proper measurements needed for condiments and wash dice, and slice fruits and vegetables, and meats, for the variety of meals we prepare for customers • Adhere to COVID-19 safety protocol measures in all food preparation areas and follow all food safety guidelines in the kitchen workstations Qualifications: • Ability to work weekends, nights, and holidays and be willing to pitch in working extra hours at the supervisor’s request • Able to read recipes, meal charts, and labels and understand directions in English • Must be comfortable handling sharp knives and other kitchen tools when prepping food • We’d prefer it if you have an associate's degree (AA), or equivalent, but it’s not required for the job • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, as well as bend, pull heavy items, and stand on your feet for your entire shift Compensation: $12 - $16 hourly
