Position: Facilities Maintenance SupervisorReports to: Airport ManagerLocation: San Bernardino International AirportSalary Range: $41.20 - $53.76 hourly rateStatus: Non-ExemptDEFINITIONUnder general direction, oversees facilities maintenance operations at the airport, including budget administration, staff supervision, and maintenance program coordination. Plans, schedules, assigns, and reviews the work of maintenance personnel. Participates in the planning and development of construction projects and the installation of infrastructure. Oversees the maintenance and repair of airport buildings, facilities, systems, and equipment. Provides technical leadership in electrical, mechanical, and facility operations; coordinates maintenance projects and programs; ensures compliance with safety and regulatory requirements; and supports the Airport Manager in achieving departmental goals.SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISEDReceives general direction from the Airport Manager. Exercises direct and general supervision over facilities maintenance staff.ESSENTIAL DUTIESThe following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth.Plans, assigns, supervises, trains, and evaluates facilities maintenance staff; provides coaching and direction; conducts performance evaluations; recommends disciplinary actions; and participates in employee selection and promotional processes.Plans, coordinates, and monitors facilities maintenance operations, programs, and activities; establishes work priorities and schedules; evaluates service delivery; and recommends and implements improvements to procedures, workflows, and operational efficiencies.Determines staffing, equipment, material, and resource needs for assigned operations, projects, and programs; participates in budget preparation; develops cost estimates; monitors expenditures; and maintains related records and reports.Oversees the operation, maintenance, care, and storage of Agency tools, equipment, vehicles, building systems, and other facilities maintenance assets, including supporting the development and maintenance of asset management systems.Inspects work performed by employees and contractors to ensure quality, accuracy, safety, and compliance with applicable plans, specifications, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements; identifies deficiencies and coordinates corrective action.Oversees facilities maintenance safety practices and conducts safety inspections; ensures compliance with established policies, procedures, environmental requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations; implements corrective actions as necessary.Assists with capital improvement and infrastructure projects from planning and development through construction and implementation; reviews plans, specifications, and project requirements and coordinates facilities-related activities with appropriate stakeholders.Troubleshoots complex electrical, mechanical, building-system, and other facilities maintenance issues; provides technical direction and performs or directs appropriate corrective actions and repairs.Coordinates procurement activities for facilities maintenance operations, including service contracts, equipment, materials, and supplies; assists with contract administration and vendor performance as assigned.Coordinates maintenance activities, projects, and services with Agency departments, contractors, consultants, vendors, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders; establishes and maintains effective working relationships and provides technical and administrative support to the Airport Manager.Responds to airport and facilities emergencies and coordinates maintenance personnel, resources, and corrective actions as required and in coordination with the Airport Duty Manager, as applicable.Maintains required operational maintenance, safety, project and administrative records; prepares reports and recommendations, supports the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.Performs other duties as assigned. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade and five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in performing construction and/or facilities maintenance work, including one (1) year of lead or supervisory experience. An Associate’s degree in a technical trade is highly desirable.Licenses and Certifications:Possession of a valid California Driver’s License is required by the time of appointment. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Class B Driver’s License with appropriate endorsements is preferred.Conditions of EmploymentPossession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Driver’s License by time of appointment.
