Make an impact supporting students in a hands-on educational setting as a Multiple Disabilities Support (MDS) Level B paraprofessional for the upcoming 2026–2027 school year. Four paraprofessionals are needed for a contract assignment beginning August 10 at the Lehigh Learning Achievement School. This is an excellent fit for compassionate, resilient individuals comfortable assisting students with a range of significant needs.
Qualifications & Experience
- At least one year of experience as a paraprofessional, instructional assistant, or similar role in a school or special education setting preferred
- Must fulfill one PA paraprofessional qualification:
- 48 college credits, or
- Associate degree or higher, or
- Approved state/local competency assessment
- Those not yet qualified can complete PA paraprofessional certification within 60 days of hire
- Availability for a full school-day schedule (approx. 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, 32.5–35 hours/week)
- Able to reliably commute within 35 minutes of the site
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct support for students in an MDS classroom, including academic, behavioral, and personal care assistance (toileting, feeding, hygiene)
- Help with mobility and communication, and support classroom routines and transitions
- Address challenging behaviors such as elopement, hitting, screaming, and more, using patience, consistency, and adherence to safety procedures
- Collaborate with teachers and other classroom staff as part of a dedicated team
