Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiac Tele

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a challenging and fast-paced Cardiac Telemetry unit. This role requires expertise in managing pre- and post-procedure cardiac patients and familiarity with various cardiac drips and telemetry monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients with cardiac conditions.
• Monitor telemetry and vital signs, administering IV medications as necessary.
• Titrate cardiac drips and manage patient care post-cardiac interventions.
• Support the admissions and discharges process, collaborating with team leads.
• Participate in patient assessments and care planning.

Required Skills and Certifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar environment.
• Skills in IV starts and telemetry management.
• Experience with cardiac drips and handling pre- and post-procedure patients.
• Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, and NIH.

Job Details:

• Patient Ratios: Target ratios of 1:5-6, with the expectation to handle up to 6 patients during high-demand periods.
• Contract Duration: Accepting contracts of 13-26 weeks.
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15.
• Flexible Scheduling: Self-scheduling based on unit needs, with no block scheduling.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, along with 2 Mondays and 2 Fridays within a 6-week period.
• Call Requirement: Yes, frequency will depend on patient census.
• Float Requirement: Must be willing to float to other units as needed.

Patient Population:

The unit serves as the primary care setting for cardiac and stroke patients, including but not limited to:

• Stable pre- and post-care for pacemaker implantation and cardiac catheterization.
• Management of patients with unstable angina, low-risk chest pain, CHF, and dysrhythmias.
• Monitoring and administration of multiple cardiac drips such as Cardizem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone.

Special Procedures and Equipment:

The candidate should be comfortable with the following:

• Managing patients on opti-flow and BIPAP during COVID surges (only for chronic use).
• Using telemetry and pulse oximetry for stable patients.
• Working in a high-turnover environment, caring for up to 90 patients per week with the potential for rapid reassignment.

Unit Orientation:

A comprehensive 36-hour orientation is required. Availability for the entire first week is essential for hospital orientation.

Dress Code:

Standard navy blue or white scrubs are allowed, along with Novant t-shirts. Jackets must match the uniform color and material. Closed-toe shoes should be worn, avoiding styles like crocs with holes.
